Rotary Shaft Seal / Oil Seal

rotary shaft seals

Rotary shaft sealsalso known as Oil seals, are mechanical seals used in various industrial, automotive, refrigerator, HVAC, etc. applications. They are designed to prevent the leakage of lubricants, combustion gases, dirt and other harmful agents from entering a system’s components. Our offered Oil seals are usually made from a combination of rubber and metal, although other materials such as thermoplastics, elastomers and graphite may also be used.

Type A Single Lip – Rubber Coated with Spring (Rotary shaft Seals or Oil Seals)

DIN: 3760 Standard.

Common Materials: Nitrile, Fluorocarbon, Silicone, EPDM, Polyacrylate, Neoprene.

Spring make: Carbon Steel Stainless Available.

Pressure Rating: Max 7psi.

Mounting: Press-fit.

Comments: Best suited for rotary motion. They are used for sealing grease and generally for sealing lower pressure (up to 0.5 bar/7psi) fluids, heavy oils, and lubricants, depending on shaft speed. The backup ring supports sealing under medium pressure (4 bar/57psi).

Rubber Coated with Spring seals

Type ADL Double Lip – Rubber Coated w/ Spring (Rotary Shaft Seals or Oil Seals)

Comments: Similar to Type A seals. Additional (Double) Lip helps seal medium dirt from foreign materials.

Rubber Coated w/ Spring rotary shaft seals

Type AW – Rubber Coated – No Spring (Rotary Shaft Seals or Oil Seals)

Comments: Like type A seals. Best suitable for slow speed, used for non-pressure medium mainly for grease or viscous fluids. Less critical sealing applications.

Rubber Coated seals

Type B Single Lip – Metal Case with Spring (Rotary Shaft Seals or Oil Seals)

Comments: The construction is suitable for housing with keyways. Best suited for rotary motion. They are used for sealing grease and generally for sealing lower pressure (up to 0.5 bar/7psi) fluids, heavy oils, and lubricants, depending on shaft speed. The backup ring supports sealing under medium pressure (10 bar/140psi).

Metal Case with Spring seals

Type BDL Double Lip – Metal Case w/ Spring (Rotary Shaft Seals or Oil Seals)

Comments:Like Type B seals. Additional (Double) Lip helps seal medium dirt from foreign materials.

BDL Double Lip rotary shaft seals

Type BW Single Lip – Metal Case – No Spring (Rotary Shaft Seals or Oil Seals)

Comments: Like type B seals. Best suitable for slow speed, used for non-pressure medium mainly for grease or viscous fluids—less critical sealing applications.

BW Single Lip rotary shaft seals

Type C Single Lip – Full Metal Case with Spring (Rotary Shaft Seals or Oil Seals)

Comments: The construction is meant for robust & muddy applications. The oil seal requires additional protection from the cover. Best suited for rotary motion. They are used for sealing grease and generally for sealing lower pressure (up to 0.5 bar/7psi) fluids, heavy oils, and lubricants, depending on shaft speed. The backup ring supports sealing under medium pressure (10 bar/140psi).

Type C Single Lip rotary shaft seals

Type CDL Double Lip – Full Metal Case w/ Spring (Rotary Seals or Oil Seals)

Comments: Like Type C seals. Additional (Double) Lip helps seal medium dirt from foreign materials.Like Type C seals. Additional (Double) Lip helps seal medium dirt from foreign materials.
